Library Notes 2/9
Share Your Love of the Library
Bring a friend to the Altamont Library on February 14th and the two of you will receive a sweet treat. We’ll also be photographing friends who share their love of books and posting them in a display at the Library.
Pre-School Story Time
Come and hang with the opossums at the Library during our pre-school story time on marsupials. We’ll talk about kangaroos, wombats, koalas and more. Caregivers and pre-school children, whether conveyed by pouch or more conventional means, are welcome Monday at Wednesday at 10:00. Call 861-7239 for more information.
Kids Book Club
The Golden Compass, by Phillip Pullman, is the next selection in the fourth grade and up Kids’ Book Club. Join us as we discuss this first book in the His Dark Materials trilogy. Pullman’s work is the sort of fiction that works just as well for adults (it’s a sort of rewriting of Paradise Lost) as for kids (it’s an action/fantasy book with a child protagonist). Readers of all ages are welcome Tuesday, February 28th at 4 p.m. Request your copy at the Library today.
Bionicles Display
Stop by the Library to check out our display of Bionicles, by Zach Bemis. These fearsome Lego creatures are standing in formation in our display case, complete with a narrative summary. (Children of the ‘80s should cue a mental image of Transformers.) They’ll be here through the month of February.
Ongoing Events
Don’t forget, every Tuesday is Read to A Dog – call the Library to make an appointment or just drop in between 3:30 and 4:30. Computer Classes for Adults have been filling up well in advance. The Library is now accepting reservations for March classes. There is no fee for this 5 part introductory series. Call the Library at 861-7239 for more information or to sign up.
