Lib Notes 4.13.06

Pre-School Story Time.

The Altamont Free Library encourages its patrons to flap their wings and fly. Come to the Library for stories such as The Big Fat Worm, Have you seen my Duckling, and Round Robin as we swap our mundane perspective for birds’ eye view of the world. We may even outfit ourselves with wings and soar. Older siblings on holiday are welcome!

Toddler Story Time

Has it been too long since you and your toddler did the hokey-pokey? Then come to the Altamont Free Library and shake it all about. We’ll read a few short stories, sing some songs and turn ourselves about. This ½ hour program runs Tuesdays at 10:30.

Book Sale

Have you started your spring-cleaning? In anticipation of our upcoming book sale (May 13th), the Altamont Free Library is soliciting donations for our spring book sale. Unfortunately, we cannot accept donations of text books, condensed books or books that are musty. If you have a large amount of books to bring in, please call ahead (861-7239). We appreciate the support of our community.

Computer Classes for Adults

Our next five part series of computer classes for adults will commence Thursday April 27th and continue on Thursdays at 10:30. Each of the five classes covers a topic ranging from the internet to email to word processing. No prior experience is assumed. Registration is required as class size is limited. Call the Library at 861-7239.

Library Notes 4/6

Library Notes

Pre-School Story Time

Soggy boots, snoring old men, itsy bitsy spiders and a rainbow at the end all tell us that it’s April and this week’s story time will be all about rain. Venture out through the puddles and gray clouds to join us Monday or Wednesday at 10 for stories, rhymes and a craft.

Toddler Story Time

Toddlers and their care givers are invited to join us Tuesdays at 10:30 for an informal session of nursery rhymes, finger plays, songs and stories. We run about half an hour and always leave time for play at the end. Questions? Call 861-7239.

Kids’ Book Club

Our ten and up book club will meet Tuesday April 24th at 4:15 to discuss the final installment in the His Dark Materials trilogy. In The Amber Spyglass, Phillip Pullman involves his courageous young characters in wars in which angels clash. Theological ideas are turned upside down as the author’s imagination takes readers into fresh suppositions about the nature of love, friendship, religion and death. (The Amber Spyglass is the first children’s book to have won the Whitbread Book of the Year Award. Curious adults are welcome to join us.) Call the Library to request your copy today.

Its pager.
