Painting Donated
The Library is the recipient of an art donation by Laura Provo-Parker. The oil on canvas painting, completed in 2002, portrays St. Rose’s Brubacher Courtyard. The painting is an abstraction of the view from the artist’s graduate studio, painted as if you just caught a glimpse of it. Provo-Parker noted the abstraction is indicative of the way we often look, seeing only a part of the whole. Painted with palette knives, which results in an impasto surface, the painting is almost three dimensional, causing the viewer to want to reach out and touch it (we’re sorry, you’ll have to resist the temptation). Come check out this colorful addition to the Library’s collection.
Chicken BBQ
Chicken Little must think the sky is falling. Advanced sales for the annual chicken barbeque on June 16th run at the library between June 9th and15th. $7.50 will get you half a chicken with fixings (baked potato, cole slaw, biscuit, brownie and drink) and $5.50 buys you a quarter chicken with fixings. What a deal! Day-of bbq sales will run you a dollar more per meal.

Kids’ Book Cubs
How to Eat Fried Worms has happily repulsed children since its original publication in 1973. Billy must eat 15 worms in 15 days--but the reward will be worth it: $50 for a shiny new minibike. Luckily, Billy's friends cook up these fat juicy grubs in a variety of appetizing ways--drenched in ketchup and mustard, fried in butter and cornmeal. Read the book before the movie comes out in August and come to our book discussion on Monday, June 26th at 4 p.m.
