Library Notes

By Judith Wines

Reading Club Registration

Registration for the Summer Reading starts Monday, June 26th. Come in to fill in your reading chart and get ready for a summer of fun.

Book Clubs

Both kids’ book clubs meet this coming week. Come in on Monday at 4 to discuss How to Eat Fried Worms and on Tuesday at 4:15 for Julie of the Wolves.

Storytime

In storytime this week, we’ll be seeking respite from the summer heat with a visit to our Antartic friends, the penguins. Join us Monday or Wednesday at 10. (n.b. this will be the last twice weekly storytime before we switch to a summer schedule of once weekly storytimes Mondays at 10 for 4-6+ year olds.)

Toddler Storytime

Row, Row, Row your boats to the Library for toddler story time Tuesday at 10:30. Join us for ½ an hour of stories, song and silliness. Starting in July, this program will switch to 2:00.

Chicken BBQ

Thanks to everyone who came out for our chicken BBQ on the 16th. We really appreciate the support of the community.

Map of the World

Calling all geography fans. Do you know where Djibouti is? You will after you help the Library make a huge world map. This summer project is for kids who have patience for detailed painting (no particular artistic ability required) and an interest in Geography. We’ll meet Tuesdays at 10:30 through out the summer. Call the Library at 861-7239 for more information.

Summer Reading Joke:

When is a piece of wood like a king? Email answers to winesj@mail.uhls.lib.ny.us. Something cool to the winner! And the answer to last week’s joke: How much do pirates pay for their earrings? A buccaneer!
