Library Notes 2/16

Library Closed

The Library will be closed on Washington’s Birthday, February 20th. (A bit of holiday trivia – the observance of Washington’s Birthday on the 3rd Monday in February means that the holiday will never fall on Washington’s actual Birthday (February 11th under the Julian Calendar or after the British switch to the Gregorian calendar in 1752, on February 22nd) as the third Monday of the month always falls between the 16th and the 21st.

Pre-School Story time

Story time next week is a Wednesday only, one-shot deal. We’ll be talking about collecting and trying our hand at crafting a collection of our own.

Community Supported Agriculture Presentation

Sara and Raymond Luhrman, operators of an organic CSA farm will lead a discussion accompanied by a slideshow that contrasts the economic, social and environmental costs of Agribusiness with the alternatives offered by CSA. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

New Books

These just in – shipment of juvenile non-fiction books. Come to the Library and satisfy your craving for knowledge on subjects from the drawing of Dinosaurs to the creation of Wallace and Gromit to the inner workings of the automobile engine. Kid’s non-fiction is great for the 12 and unders for whom it was designed but is also perfect for a fun, casual introduction to any subject for adults. Looking for a non-intimidating introduction to rocket science? Juvenile non-fiction is the place to start.

Program Ideas?

We at the Library are starting to think about our spring schedule. If there are any topics you’d like to see addressed, any skills you’d like to learn or any flights of fancy you’d like to take, drop by the Library and let us know. (If there are any classes you’d like to lead, the above is doubly encouraged.)
