Riverway Storytelling Festival
Join us at the Library for the kickoff of the Riverway Storytelling Festival, a regional event celebrating all forms of stories. Storytellers Fran Combs Berger and Kent Busman will be at the Altamont Library to regale us with stories for families on the theme Spring has Sprung. Join us for this exciting free event Monday May 1st at 7 p.m. Questions? Call 861-7239.
Pre-School Story time
May Day is upon us at the Altamont Free Library. We’ll celebrate at story time with a festive (but not quite bacchanalian) celebration involving flowers, spring stories, and, perhaps, some dancing around the Maypole. Monday at 10 a.m.
Toddler Story Time
Toddler story time has moved up in the world – by a whole 15 minutes. We will now be starting at 10:15 in order to help folks get home in time to help kindergarteners on and off the bus. Join us Tuesday as we sing songs, learn rhymes and finger plays, read stories and work on a craft. This informal program runs for about ½ an hour.
Display Case
Looking for a gas efficient way to enjoy some sporty cars? Come check out the collection of matchbox cars gracing out display case until the end of the month. Jared Capuano’s collection ranges from race cars that could grace the track at Lime Rock park to ladder trucks to bulldozers. Come check it out before they speed off!
Kids’ Book Club
Our 2-4th grade book club selection for the month of May is The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleishman. Join us Wednesday May 22nd at 4 p.m. as we discuss this adventure which stars Jemmy, an orphan who is kept at the royal palace to be thrashed whenever the royal heir, Price Brat, misbehaves. Call the Library today to request your copy - 861-7239.
Library Joke
What did the spider do inside the library computer?
Email answers to winesj@mail.uhls.lib.ny.us. Something cool to the winner…
The answer to last week’s joke:
Why does the dragon keep turning around in a circle? He wants to read a long tale.
