The oil on canvas painting, completed in 2002, portrays St. Rose’s Brubacher Courtyard. The painting is an abstraction of the view from the artist’s graduate studio, painted as if you just caught a glimpse of it. Provo-Parker noted the abstraction is indicative of the way we often look, seeing only a part of the whole. Painted with palette knives, which results in an impasto surface, the painting is almost three dimensional, causing the viewer to want to reach out and touch it (we’re sorry, you’ll have to resist the temptation).
